Lone Star Philanthropy: The Non-Profit Organizations of Texas

They say everything is bigger in Texas, and philanthropy is no exception. When it comes to generosity and helping those in need, Texans immediately respond with their trademark Texas hospitality. For example, when the people of Louisiana were hit by Hurricane Katrina, Texas welcomed thousands of refugees and provided much needed relief. Throughout the state, there are hundreds of non-profit organizations assisting in every aspect of need, from animal welfare groups to poverty relief organizations. The Stars of the Texan Philanthropy

The current chairman, who is appointed by the Governor of Texas, is Warren G. Diggles, who has headed another excellent nonprofit organization, the Boys and Girls Club of Deep East Texas.
