Texas Non-Profit Hospice Alliance
One of the most difficult times for anyone to face is the impending death of a loved one. In addition to the conflicting feelings of grief and guilt, the medical care for someone with a terminal condition can be staggering, which only adds to the stress.
Fortunately, the caring people of the Texas Non-Profit Hospice Alliance are here to help. It is the goal of the Alliance to provide caring, quality facilities and services for Texans with life-limiting illnesses and injuries. Hospice care seeks to manage pain and symptoms with an emphasis on the quality of life. A hospice offers medical, emotional, spiritual, and bereavement support for the patients and their families.
The Alliance ensures that all hospice costs are covered, whether your funds come from Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance plans, HMOs, or other managed care organizations. No one is refused hospice services, regardless their financial status. Hospice care emphasizes compassion, dignity, independence, and respect.
The Alliance believes that education can help people make appropriate choices and set reasonable goals in selecting a hospice. The Alliance is at the forefront in shaping hospice care in Texas through their community work. Members of the Alliance benefit through sharing their experiences and resources, such as contracts with major managed care organizations, and statewide marketing communications programs.
The Alliance is also seeking hospice volunteers. As nonprofit organizations, hospices rely on volunteers. Hospice volunteers come from a wide range of professions, including doctors, nurses, drivers, translators, computer technicians, cooks and, receptionists. Hospices are also always in need of dog walkers, envelope stuffers, and readers. And non-profit hospices are happy to provide the training you need to become an effective hospice volunteer.
